ABOUT

KNIK VET

Dr. Klejka grew up in Bethel, Alaska. She grew up racing sled dogs and hanging out in the Bethel vet clinic with Dr. Sept. Jessica won the Jr. Iditarod in high school and was a UA scholar attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks where she got a BS in Biology. Jessica then attended Washington State University’s college of Veterinary medicine and began practicing as a vet in Palmer before transitioning over to work as a vet in Big lake. In her free time Jessica races her own team of sled dogs and enjoys volunteering as a race veterinarian for local races such as the Kuskokwim 300 and Jr. Iditarod. Jessica finished her first Iditarod in 2019, and in 2020 she placed 22nd! Jessica is excited to be running clinics in Bethel, King Salmon, and Knik. It has been her dream since she was a kid to work in rural Alaska. Jessica has strong interests in surgery, preventative medicine, canine athletes and helping grow the human animal bond. When Jessica is in Bethel she helps sponsor and support the local rescue group Bethel Friends of Canines, and Iditarod Champion Pete Kaiser.
